9th Signal Company DI

Constituted on July 8th, 1918 in the Regular Army as the 209th Field Signal Battalion and assigned to the 9th Division. Organized 31st July 1918 at Camp Sheridan, Alabama. Demobilized on February 5th 1919 at the same camp. It got reconstructed again on March 24th, 1923 in the Regular Army as the 9th Signal Company and was assigned to the 9th Division, which was later re-designated as the 9th Infantry Division.

The 9th Signal Company participated in the eight battle campaigns of Algeria-French Morocco (with arrowhead), Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe.

The 9th Signal Company earned the Presidential Unit Citation, with the streamer embroidered Remagen Bridgehead, cited WD GO 68, 1945.
It also earned the Meritorious Unit Commendation, with the streamer European Theater, cited GO 53, 9th Infantry Division, 18 April, 1945.
