Private First Class Leslie Shankles was one of 33 men who went missing in action on October 14th, 1944. After the war, all of the 33 men were accounted for, except for 4 men. Leslie Shankles was one of them. Through the great efforts of DPAA, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, and the research done by myself, the combined information provided enough evidence to do DNA research on several unknown soldiers, buried at the American Cemetery in the Ardennes.
